Crowning of the Chard Carnival Royalty

Saturday 24th September on the balcony of the Guild Hall. 10:30am

Claire Brown the Carnival committee royalty member started the proceedings.

Hello and welcome to the crowning of the carnival royalty 2022. Firstly, I would like to say a massive thank you to the three girls and their families, for putting a massive effort in to raise so much money for our carnival charities. This year has been the first year since covid that we have been able to get back to a normal royalty competition. I’ve been so impressed with some of the amazing events the girls have hosted this year from bingos to afternoon teas, as well as selling the normal raffle tickets.

I have the honour of running this competition every year, helping the girls to pick out their dresses, sorting out their calendars and decorating their float, as well as many other things.

This wouldn’t all be possible without the support of the rest of the carnival team who all work hard on all different aspects of the carnival. From putting up banners, running road closures and fundraising. We have an incredible committee and at any point I can give them a shout out I will, I’m very proud to be a part of this incredible team.

Some big carnival announcements, Chard carnival is set to be the biggest carnival outside county this year with over 60 entries already!

We are all very excited about this and I invite every single one of you to come to attend if you can on Saturday 8th October.

In total a massive £2034.94 has been raised.

So, without further ado, here is our royalty 2022.

Raising £915 Elsie is our first-place carnival princess.

Raising £257.50 Cohen is our second-place princess.

And Miss Chard for this year goes to Amelia who raised £862.50

Claire then asked and received a round of applause for our fabulous winners.

The carnival royalty will be attending several events throughout the year. So please come along to meet them!

Claire ended by saying a thank you to Mr Mayor Martin for crowning the girls and for Gary the guild hall caretaker for helping put this small event on.
